Reflexology

WHAT IS REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology is a very relaxing, safe and non-invasive complementary therapy, which stimulates the body’s own healing mechanism and restores balance to all its systems on a physical and emotional level.

This is done by massaging and then applying gentle pressure to specific reflex points, meridians and nerve endings on the feet that correspond to various parts of the body. This stimulates the nerves (of which there are some 7200 on each foot), which activates a response in the body. By detecting and releasing congestion and tension within these points, Reflexology can restore a person’s natural equilibrium and promote vitality.

The cumulative effect of regular Reflexology treatment helps to:

  • Reduce stress and tension
  • Eliminate toxins
  • Promote better sleep
  • Balance the hormones
  • Strengthen the immune system
  • Improve the circulation
  • Ease pain and inflammation
  • Increase endorphins to provide the "feel good factor"

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and a wide range of conditions. Even when there is no particular problem, it is a very pleasurable & therapeutic way of maintaining health & vitality, whilst combating the rigours of our stressful lives.

In addition to providing an over all sense of relaxation and well being, Reflexology can be beneficial for a wide range of conditions including:

  • Stress
  • Hormonal imbalances – Infertility, PMT, Menopause
  • Immune system dysfunction – ME / Chronic Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • IBS
  • Constipation
  • Arthritis
  • Sinusitis
  • Pain relief

Reflexology is a very pleasurable and therapeutic way of maintaining health and vitality, whilst combating the rigours of our stressful lives.

PREGNANCY

Reflexology and Pregnancy

Reflexology is often used pre-conception to help cleanse the body of toxins and balance hormones, thus promoting fertility.

During pregnancy, it can then be used to regulate body functions and so relieve many of the uncomfortable symptoms associated with each trimester. Reflexology is also effective in preparing the body for childbirth, particularly for inducing labour and for turning breech babies.

After the birth, Reflexology can help with breast feeding problems, such as increasing milk supply, and its ability to promote general well-being and relaxation can alleviate postnatal depression.
